Week 11

First, Brian (Steve’s older brother) must have read my last post because yesterday while I was at work I got a text that said “You look fabulous.” Hahaha… it made my day :)

Second, I am LOVING the Bella Band. I wore it for the first time yesterday with my jeans that normally make my stomach hurt and it was really comfortable (pants unbuttoned). It’s pretty wide, but you can fold it over. It will be nice to unroll to cover the belly once it gets a little bigger. But my review: Buy one! Love it! Definitely worth the $30.

Finally… WEEK 11!!

The baby:

*About 2 inches long!! 1/3 of an ounce.
*Baby will double in height this week.
*Tooth buds beginning to form under the gums
*The baby is hiccuping! (Diaphragm is forming)
*This week starts the active phase: somersaults, rolling over, flexing, stretching… Wow.
*Skin is still paper thin and transparent, but is forming protective layer
*Size of a peanut or fig, seen here (compared to a quarter):
The mom:

*Fatigue: Getting better!
*Nausea: Also getting better! Thank goodness. I can make it through the day and have been able to eat a wider variety of food.
*Constipation: Nope (thank goodness)
*Heartburn: some.
*Weight: It appears that I’ve actually LOST some weight.. which doesn’t quite fit with my expanding waistline, but I suppose I haven’t been eating much because of the nausea. Plus, a lot of the weight is fluctuating water weight. I could be 5 pounds heavier tomorrow. Now that I’m feeling more energetic and less nauseous, I should start gaining one pound a week.
*Producing a lot more blood, sweat, oil and amniotic fluid = drinking a LOT more water.

One site asks if I’m feeling tired and weak and lists some food I can eat to help: linguine with clam sauce, prune juice, milk with blackstrap molasses, or liver and onions. REALLY?! I’d rather be tired and weak. Gross.

Next Dr. appt: I got a call yesterday saying they needed to move my appt that was scheduled for June 2. Next available date? June 29. I said, uhhh no. That’s when my THIRD appt is supposed to be, I’m not missing my 2nd. They were like – that’s all we have open. My options were to either start crying or get mad. So I got mad. I had an appt on time, you guys had to move it, so you guys do something about it. Anyway, the appt is now Friday, June 5th. :)

Now is the time to do the CVS (chorionic villus sampling) to test the baby for chromosomal disorders such as down syndrome. Steve and I decided not to do it. We would like to know in advance about something like that so we could better prepare, but the CVS increases risk of miscarriage (1/150 who have the test have a miscarriage). We have the option of doing an amniocentesis test later on, which has a lower risk for miscarriage.

29 weeks to go! ;)
