IFeltTheBabyMove.. I FELT THE BABY MOVE!

week 15 apple»Baby is the size of an apple.

Ok, I wasn’t even looking for this because I had read that I wouldn’t be able to feel the baby for a few more weeks. On Monday night when I laid down in bed, I felt a weird feeling in my stomach.. but brushed it off to digestion. Last night, the same thing happened, but it felt like nothing else – I couldn’t blame digestion. It happened when I rolled over from my back to my side.

I quickly pulled out my iPhone and googled it. This is what I found:

You typically can’t feel the baby KICK until week 18 – 20. This will feel like a tapping at your belly. This is not what I felt, so I kept reading. As early as 13 – 14 weeks (I hit week 15 tomorrow), you may be able to feel a “fluttering.” That was the PERFECT way to describe what I felt. You can’t feel a kick yet, but you can feel the movement, the tumbling around. And it made sense because I had flipped from my back to my side.. causing the baby to tumble around?!

I tested it. I quickly went to my back and rolled to my other side, and then back again. What I notice first is a feeling like my belly is tightening/stretching and then if I am still, I notice the fluttering feeling. SO weird, but so cool.

After my testing of it, I decided it was safe to tell Steve without sounding crazy. Besides, he was wondering what I was doing tossing and turning! I feel bad that he can’t feel it yet and won’t be able to for quite some time.

I was so excited I couldn’t sleep.

BTW – in all accounts I read of last night, the women who felt this “fluttering” early on said they had a boy. I may have changed my mind again.…. :)
