Pregnancy Week 30

Only 10 more weeks to go (70 days), wow that sounds so short. We’re 210 days (75.4% of the way through)!

The Baby:

week 30*His testicles have probably descended into the scrotum
*The fine hair coating (“lanugo”) starts to disappear
*Survival rate = 95%. Of those, 25% have serious complications. I like those odds, but please, lil boy, stay in there for 10 more weeks!
*About 15.7 inches in length, weighing about 3 lb (like a head of cabbage)
*1.5 pints of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but as he takes up more space that will decrease
*His eyesight is continuing to get better, but he’ll be born with only 20/400 – meaning he can only see objects a few inches from his face
*I put this picture up because I’m convinced he’s in a “transverse lie”

The Mom:

week 30 me*Feeling clumsy? Not so much, but there’s definitely a loss of balance… to the point where it’s difficult to get dressed.
*Lax ligaments contribute to loose joints (which may cause a permanent widening of feet – I haven’t noticed this yet & I’m hoping I never do!)
*Mood swings? I don’t experience depression (1 in 10 do) or anxiety, but I certainly get agitated more easily (I’d guess it’s more from being tired though)
*My belly is the size of a watermelon.
*Anddd, of course, fatigue.

I’ve reached the point where the baby’s kicks are almost painful at times. They can make me jump and my whole belly shakes. It’s especially uncomfortable when he’s up in my rib cage!

I have one spot at the right side of my back, in the middle, that hurts almost constantly. I don’t know if the baby rests there or what, but Steve digs his knuckles in as hard as he can (and I can barely feel it).

At my last 2 appointments my doctor said she thought the baby was head down… I can’t understand why she thinks that because she only listens to the heartbeat. She doesn’t even feel my belly. Maybe he was head down then, but nowweek 30 belly line I’m convinced he’s transverse (horizontal in my belly) and I’m curious what she says at my appointment on Monday.

I took this picture for you because there’s now a line straight down my belly! I don’t know if you can see it in this picture, but I sure can… although it is very light.

I’ve been a bit overwhelmed lately with my never-ending to-do list… and feel like there won’t be any down time before the baby is suddenly here (and then it’ll be 18 years before there’s down time again), haha. Ah!

My brother is coming to visit Sunday-Wednesday and he hasn’t seen me since I got pregnant… so that’s exciting! My good friend is also in town this weekend and I’m excited to see her too! Busy busy.

Ok, how about I give YOU a to-do list? :)
