I asked my doctor about giving my son saline solution and he said he doesn't recommend it because it could go into the babies lungs. That sounded scary to me! I did use it one time though because his nose was so stuffy and my sister in law reassured me that you put it in his nose and suction it out immediately and he should be fine.
