My 2nd baby is a biter. She only has gums at this point, but it still hurts so I’m rather nervous. It’s nice to read everyones’ suggestions now. Sooooo not looking forward that. The altered comic is hilarious! Thanks for posting on this.

Chloe has bit me a couple of times before and it does hurt! What I do is say “NOOOO” and look her straight in the eyes and make her un-latch. Once she bites me I am done nursing until the next feeding. It’s been a few weeks now since she’s bit me. I hope I got my point across because I was a nervous wreck after I got bit. I was scared to nurse!

I think I do remember seeing that on twitter — and I haven’t tried that yet! We’ll see how it goes, I’m hoping it’s over soon and tonight he was just extra cranky. I think like Kayley said it’s a good idea to not let him re-latch–then I won’t have the issue of him biting over and over! Thanks for the suggestion though, I might end up trying it!

That makes sense… to not let him re-latch. I know he was done feeding too, but he usually nurses (for comfort) until he falls asleep, so I guess that’s why I was letting him latch back on. He’d start crying otherwise (spoiled little stinker, lol). I will try that next time! thanks

I think I mentioned this on Twitter but just in case you didn’t see it… a flick to the cheek helped my son stop. He was being pretty stubborn about it and I was getting mastitis (multiple cases!) because of his biting so it HAD to stop. I didn’t like doing it (made me want to cry), but he understood after two or three flicks that if he bit me that he would hurt. It only took a few days and he didn’t do it again. I also told him “No biting!” very firmly when I flicked him. Sorry this is happening to you! Those new, little teeth are REALLY sharp!

I know it is tough, trust me I do, but just hang in there mama. It does eventually end. I am doing it for the 2nd time right now and it is just how I remembered it.

My sister is only 13, and I remember my mom nursing her (she nursed her for a long time, I think she was almost 3 before they stopped night-time feedings), but when she would bite, my mom would unlatch her, tell her “no biting”, but she would be done nursing for that feeding. She would try again next time, but wouldn’t let her re-latch after biting. It must have worked, my mom said she only bit her twice.… Just a suggestion!
