Our trip to the gardens

We have really pretty Japanese gardens here and they had a “donation day” recently, which means you don’t have to pay admission (but it’s nice to donate). I know it’s not exactly a place for kids, but thought I’d give it a try. There are miles of walking paths with lots of fish and ducks for Ryan to watch. I wanted to try to snap some great pictures, too.

summer days

There’s an arboretum a few minutes from our house – it’s hidden away on a busy street, most people don’t even know it’s there. It’s nearly always empty when we go – a giant field of trees and grass and flowers – it’s beautiful and peaceful.

I started a day late so I’m going to post the first two days now… the second lesson was “how they look” and I got this cutie

Chocolate face

I wouldn’t normally give my 11 month old a chocolate candy bar to chew on… I was cleaning and setting up Christmas decorations, which means I was removing the pumpkin full of Halloween candy – don’t ask me how I still have some left, I have no idea! I accidentally left it within Ryan’s reach and of course he found it. I walked past him and from the corner of my eye, something didn’t look right. I look down and there he is, totally
